Martin France
Having been involved in drumming since the age of nine Martin France
has played with many of Europe's and America's finest musicians. He
has performed in all five continents including concerts and tours in
over forty countries world wide. A turning point in his early career
was his role within the Eighties anarcho-musical big band Loose Tubes
where he began long standing partnerships with many of its members. His
association with Django Bates has led to many diverse projects away
from the "Jazz" environment they normally inhabit with Human Chain and
Delightful Precipice. These include film soundtracks, jazz theatre,
cross cultural collaborations and projects involving classical
orchestras.
Along the way Martin has performed with some of the worlds best jazz
musicians including John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler, Ralph Towner, Lee
Konitz, Dave Holland, Arild Anderson, Mike Gibbs, Steve Swallow, David
Darling, Nils-Petter Molvaer, Sidsel Endresen and Maria Joao. In
England he has performed and recorded with the very best of his
generation.
His involvement with many of the best English musicians has led to many
accolades, the recent release "Home Truths" with Julian Arguelles was
voted "Best Jazz album of the year" by two leading English newspapers
(The Guardian and The Observer).
