Kenny Wheeler
The trumpeter Kenny Wheeler studied in Toronto before moving to England. He was a
prominent member of the Johnny Dankworth band in the 50's and 60's and also part of John
Stevens’ Spontaneous Music Ensemble, the Tony Oxley group, the Mike Gibbs Orchestra and
the Globe Unity Orchestra.
Kenny has worked with Anthony Braxton's Quartet in New York, with John Taylor and Norma
Winstone as the trio Azimuth and with John Abercrombie, John Taylor, Dave Holland and
Peter Erskine in the Dave Holland Quintet.
Kenny Wheeler is one of Europe’s most sought-after avant-garde trumpet and flugelhorn
players.
